Happy Memorial Day

Today we remember those who have fought for us in the past, those who still fight for us now, and those who will fight for us in the future. Thank you for all you have done no matter how large or small.

In the Making...

I can't remember the day I started working on Brynn's "baby" blanket, but it was probably a month or two ago. It's an addiction!! I had another project started before that, but it wasn't really a mindless project I could do while watching TV. This blanket is the perfect "mindless", but not boring project. As soon as I get Brynn's finished, I'll order some yarn to make one for McKenzie. They also have the pattern using bulky yarn and it makes a larger type afghan so I'll try and make that for our living room. I have decided that this will be the pattern I also use to make baby blankets if I decide to give one as a gift.

I also need to start on some of my Malabrigo hats I plan on giving as Christmas gifts. I love Malabrigo yarn (more on that in a future post), so I've decide that select people will be receiving these this Christmas. :)

Pool Fun

The girls had a great time at the pool today!! McKenzie loved her first experience and Brynn was a brave girl and jumped in several times...as long as Daddy was nearby. :)

Summer is coming

Summer is coming and I'm looking forward to seeing the girls play in the pool and enjoy the sun. I'm not looking forward to not being at home most of June though. We are trying to get some bills paid off quickly so we don't have to worry about them, so I am doing some coding at my current work on backlogged visits. I will be working late on weekdays and also going in on weekends. Thankfully, I can make my own schedule in case I need to be off a day or two, but the more I work the more extra money coming in. Once they are all caught up, my services won't be needed as much, so I'm going to try and get in all the time that I can.

In the meantime, Dan will be at home with the girls and trying to stay sane. :) He said that he is totally fine doing that, but I know he will need a break when I get home, as I know I would if the roles were reversed. Please keep Dan and I in your prayers as we go through this busy time in our lives!

Please wave!

Moving from Texas to Colorado, I've seen so many difference in the weather, land, and especially the people. Hence, my pet peeve for the day...people not waving at me if I let them merge into my lane on the highway or any road for that matter! I don't have to let you in...I'm just being nice, slowing down and allowing you to enter my lane. Those who wave at me make my day...and I think "they must be from Texas". In Texas, when you let someone in or pass you on a two-lane road, the first thing they do is wave and I love it! I never realized how rude drivers could be until I moved to Colorado. I also tend to not let in any Fords. I will either speed up so they can't get in front of me or I change lanes. I know that no one probably cares about this, but just something about me you may not have known.

So when someone lets you merge into their lane, be sure to wave at them...it's the Texan way!

Busy Weekend

What a busy weekend we have! Last night we got together with Anita's mom, dad, sister, and sister's grandson and it was the first time we had all met them! It was nice to finally get to talk to them in person! They are coming over this evening for dinner at our house as well, so we will be taking lots of pictures.

Dan and I have a list of things to do today. I am working from home this morning, then getting off late morning to head out to buy birthday gifts and get some errands done. Saturday we have Anita's graduation for her Masters (yea Anita!!) and then her party Saturday afternoon. Sunday is Mother's Day and I think we will just hang out at home that day. Although it's supposed to be gorgeous on Sunday, we may have to take a walk or something.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and hoping I'll be posting some pictures of this weekends festivities in a couple of days.

What's in a name?

So I've been browsing other knitting blogs, trying to see what others discuss regarding knitting, projects, etc. I've found a lot, but can't see myself living up to them.

So my first "knitting" post will be about the title of my blog. If you aren't into knitting, you won't know what "purls" means. Purls is essentially a stitch used in knitting. It's actually a very important stitch, because once you've learned the knit stitch and the purl stitch, you can pretty much do anything! So as for the "purls of our life", it's a take on the "pearls of our life" meaning our girls. Brynn and McKenzie. The graphics in the heading also have a meaning. The large sunflower is Brynn and the smaller satin pink flower is McKenzie. :) So everything was done for a reason.

As for knitting projects, I am currently working on a lap size blanket for Brynn. Once I'm done with hers, I'll start on one for McK as I love the pattern so much and it's easy to do while watching tv. Another project is a shawl that I am slowly knitting up. I have to concentrate more on this one, so it's kinda sitting on the back burner while I work on the blanket. I also have several projects waiting for me, as many people in my family and also friends will be getting knitted Christmas gifts from me. Goal is to get started on those for sure by July. Hope everyone is having a great day!!

One of my first digi-scrap pages

Photobucket

Thanks for visiting!

Welcome to my new blog! Trying to combine kids, family life, and knitting all in one. I hope you enjoy reading and seeing pictures. Yes, I will try to post pictures of the girls more often.

I have also sampled the world of digital scrapbooking, so I will be attempting to post some of those pages with Dan's help.

If you love the look of my blog, check out the link at the very bottom of the blog...Polka Dot Pixels. This is the second blog Emily has designed for me and she is amazing!! You can check out her blog in my blog list as well. She also designs digital scrapbooking kits that I have purchase as well.

Hope you enjoy!!
