A few finished monsters and so-called bear

The bear is somewhat questionable as he looks kinda funny, but it was my first bear, so hopefully I'll get better. I'm loving these monsters, so there will be many more to come!

Addiction

My name is Kelli and I have an addiction to investigative shows. I am constantly watching ID HD (Investigation Discovery). I love watching CSI, Dexter, and anything that has to do with murderers, serial killers, and forensics. Yes, I'm weird and no, I'm not planning on committing any of these crimes myself. I just find this stuff extremely interesting and would much rather sit down and watch ID HD (and knit while I watch) all day than go to the movies. It's great stuff! I think Dan gets annoyed that I am constantly watching it, but he's happy I'm not constantly watching QVC anymore too. :) I sometimes catch him getting into it too. When he gets into a show, he will just stand there and stare at it, oblivious to anything going on around him. It's an interesting thing to witness.

A whole lot of nothin'

Exactly what this weekend was. I did let a lot of knitting (and sewing) done though, especially on my monsters for the girls. I'm addicted to those things now. I started up on a bear for a friends new baby and have that pretty much done, but I'm stuck as I am in need of some eyes for it. Got those ordered and just waiting for them to come in. I also got started on another monster for my Pay it forward thing on FB. I have to make 5 monsters for 5 people. I'm also on hold for that monster as I am waiting for the eyes to come in the mail. Hmmm....eyes coming in the mail....that sounds kinda gross.

Anyways, we didn't get a whole lot done around the house, but that's my own fault. I get started knitting and I can't/don't want to stop. Our closet and the girls' closet are in dire need of organizing, but I just can't get myself up there to do it. :)

As I write, the girls are playing nicely (the majority of the time). Brynn is playing with Kenzie's toys and Kenzie is playing in the food container cabinet. There is something wrong with that. I also turned on football for Dan (trying to be nice) and he's not even watching it! He is now upstairs helping his mom with something on her computer (over the phone).

That's all my rambling for now. Work week starts tomorrow and I'll be wishing yet again, for Saturday.

That one song that comes along...

Every once in awhile, a song comes out that really makes me listen...really listen to the words, and it has an emotional impact on me. This song has really done that too me. Feels like it encompasses my teenage years all the way up until now. Amazing song...

What's that "one" song for you??

Danger: Monsters Ahead

This title has multiple meanings..."Danger" has two meanings: danger, as in I have become addicted to Rebecca Danger's (<-- second meaning) monster patterns. She creates these adorable monster, cat, bear, etc. patterns and I have become addicted! It's a great way to stash bust (which is one of my goals this year) and it creates cute little gifts for my girls, their friends, and other people who I decide to give one too. :) You can check out Danger Crafts etsy shop HERE.

I just finished all of the pieces of Penelope the monster for Brynn and am about to get started on the same monster for Kenzie, but in different colors that I am pulling from my stash. Once I finish Kenzie's I'm going to "bring them to life" with stuffing, eyes, mouth, and a cute little bow. I am planning on giving them as Valentine gifts.

Here is a picture of the monster pre-stuffed and pre-sewn. :)

Auntie came to town

We had a great visit with Sissy and Brynn was very sad when she had to leave. Tears were running down her face after we said good-bye, when dropping Uncle D and Sissy at the airport shuttle bus. She's cried several times since she's been home as well.

I remember when I used to do that as a kid after Sissy moved to Colorado. She would come visit us in Texas and I would just cry when she left. So I guess Brynn takes after me. :) Brynn can't wait to go to Texas again to see Sissy's chickens. Love and miss you already Sissy!

Blog Block

So I've been thinking of what to blog about next and nothing comes to mind really! Sad, I know! I've been meaning to come up with a great topic that would keep ya'll reading with anticipation, but it's just not coming to me! Another blog/knitting/fellow Texan friend, Lori at Thrums, posted on her blog today that she just hasn't been interested in knitting lately, and I am having the same issue. A knitting/blog block.

I'm hoping to get to work on some socks tonight, so hopefully that will get me back into my groove for knitting. As far as the blogging goes, I'll get it back soon, I promise. Don't give up on me.

Neglected

I've been neglecting my blog and I'm sorry all. Had a busy day yesterday and will have another busy one today. I'm ready for a break. I usually post my weekend's best on Monday, and I missed it. :( Hopefully I will get a wordless Wednesday post in tomorrow, so stay tuned for that. Hopefully ya'll have had a great start to your week so far!

Knitting Frustrations

I'm participating in a KAL (knit a long) for Cookie A's new sock pattern book Knit.Sock.Love. I finished the first sock with no issues really, except for maybe a mistake here and there. Pretty good for a somewhat difficult sock with charts and stuff to follow. So the left sock is a mirror image of the right sock (right sock done), and I start on the left sock a couple of days ago. Yesterday, I realized that my diagonal lines were coming out straight! Realized that I had done something wrong, so I frogged back a it and starting over on that chart. It did it again! I went to look for help on the Ravelry group for the KAL and got some good suggestions, but just decided to frog back to the cuff and pretty much start completely over with the pattern. Tough thing for me to do, because when I get that far, I don't want to go back. My first sock went so fast, I'm not sure what the deal was with this one.

I'm still working on my jaywalker socks. Those are very slow going, and I'm not sure why. It's the same stitches over and over again, so it's a mindless knit, but I'm still trudging along on the leg of the 2nd sock. I also just realized that I have no idea what I did with the 1st sock! Hopefully I find it soon.

Still have yet to start on the sweater this weekend. Having both the girls all to myself has really cut down on the knitting time, but that is fine. I'm hoping I can get started on the sweater tonight at least.

Hope you all have a marvelous Sunday! It's supposed to snow here today, so we will probably be staying indoors. Dan will sleep late I'm sure, but then I need him to get up to work on some new photos for my blog! As you can see it's still a work in progress. Emily (blog designer) is so amazing and it's so fun to see what she comes up with!

Memories and Pride

I squealed with excitement as I opened a package, as I knew exactly what was in it!

Rewind a couple of years back.....Every single time we went to the valley where I grew up, I would go to Walmart to look for a t-shirt from my high school, Edinburg High School. Never found it though! They always had shirts for Edinburg North and for JE High School, but never EHS.

So a couple of months ago, my sister's high school friend, and now the current principal's lovely wife and I made a deal :) I would trade her a scarf for a Bobcat shirt! What a deal! I know, you are probably thinking, "what is she going to do with a scarf in the valley?" Well, I made it very lacy and airy, so it wasn't too hot, but would keep her warm when needed. I got it mailed off to her awhile back, but had to wait a bit to get the shirt from her.

I have such pride in my high school and have great memories of being in band, lunch periods, yearbook, and all of the amazing teachers that I will never forget. I loved going to those football games on Friday nights. If you have never been to a Texas high school football game, you don't know what you are missing. It's amazing! Anyways, these t-shirts give me back a little of my youth and a lot of memories.

My wait as rewarded when she sent me a shirt for myself, a shirt for Brynn, and a shirt to sleep in. I was so excited!! Thanks Debbie!!
